Viking Settlers was originally written for a Year 5 Class and their topic on Vikings. The song is loosely based on the 'Twelve Bar Blues.' The children loved accompanying the song with Boomwhacker Chords and of course rose admirably to the challenge of singing in harmony at the end when the two choruses are sung at the same time. My children then went on to write their own songs using the given chord structure and their class knowledge of the topic and came up with some cracking songs. I've recently updated the song to include two verses so it could be used at an end of topic celebrations, assemblies or any other setting. Hope you find it useful and it generates other creative ideas.
