This Advent Service for Juniors contains everything you need to put on an original and inclusive service with Junior Children. As the introduction says the service makes the connection between the secular symbols we see all around us from November onwards and the 'reason for the season' ...the birth of Jesus Christ on the first Christmas Day. The mixture of old and new carols, poems, rhymes, stories and children's prayers and reflections created truly thought provoking services from two schools in Hertfordshire in 2017.

In Advent Signs and Symbols I particularly liked the way different Year groups had their own aspect of the Christmas Story to tell. The opportunity for the children to write and read their own reflections was effective because they thought spiritually about the themes in the service.

The Advent Service 'Advent Signs and Symbols' was well received by children parents and priest. It was very topical , relating to current world situations . Children were engaged and really felt that they were part of the service. The hymns chosen are beautiful, giving scope for different arrangements. The true message of Christmas was seen throughout and alerted us all to what God calls us to do.
