Mary Queen of Heaven

A hymn written for the May Procession at St Joseph's School in Hertford. The beauty of this lies in the simplicity of the lyrics and the melodies. Children love to sing in harmony and the two different verses can be sung together as a partner songs. The harmony part in the chorus is sweet but this is of course optional. The children of St Joseph's enjoy singing this Mary hymn and picked it up really quickly.

Sally Kee wrote 'Mary, Queen of Heaven' for our May procession at school. It is beautifully written and arranged to the high standard we have come to expect from Sally Kee. The children enjoyed learning it from the beginning and found it really easy to pick it up from the sound track. I introduced it to FS, KS1 and KS2. " Joss Landers: Teacher at St Josephs R.C. School. Mary Queen of Heaven

It's October and one of the Marian Months, indeed October 7th is the Feast of 'Our Lady of the Rosary.' Why not teach your children 'Mary Queen of Heaven' and use it as a daily prayer during this special month of Mary?

As St. Augustine said : "For he that singeth praise, not only praiseth, but only praiseth with gladness: he that singeth praise, not only singeth, but also loveth him of whom he singeth. In praise, there is the speaking forth of one confessing; in singing, the affection of one loving." (St. Augustine, Commentary on Psalm 73, 1)

Apparently this has been abridged to "He who sings prays twice" over the centuries.
