Songs to enhance learning in other subjects.
Posted 12th January, 2026It was always my dream that class teachers used my funkee music songs to aid learning in other subjects, but as anyone who has worked in a school knows... teachers are under such pressure to get results that this rarely happened. In the days when schools did assemblies regularly some of my songs featured and occasionally nowadays at end of topic celebrations a song is squeezed in, but wouldn't it be wonderful if every new topic was introduced with a song? In KS2 to inspire the children about their topic on 'The Mayans' you could sing 'The Mayan Legacy.' https://www.fun-kee-music.co.uk/products/the-mayan-legacy/#listen When learning about Iceland use 'Land of Fire and Ice' as a prelude. https://www.fun-kee-music.co.uk/products/land-of-fire-and-ice/#listen Or sing 'The Earthquake Shake' https://www.fun-kee-music.co.uk/products/the-earthquake-shake/#listen to fire up the children about the topic 'Angry Earth.'
In KS1 it is easier to use music as the songs are shorter and littlies still love singing. They used to lovelove singing 'Naughty Goldilocks' https://www.fun-kee-music.co.uk/products/naughty-goldilocks/#listen as part of a topic on 'Traditional Tales,' or even to help them with their maths why not listen and sing along to 'Odds and Evens' https://www.fun-kee-music.co.uk/products/odds-and-evens/#listen.
One day I hope my dream will come true.
